Audience Studies, 241116, can be chosen by BA and MA students.

Why do people visit arts and cultural organizations and what do they experience there? What effect do certain art objects, the music, the space, etc. have on visitors? Why do some people never or very rarely go to cultural events? These questions have been investigated by various disciplines for almost a hundred years.

Lernziele:
The course provides a research-based introduction to various research approaches to museum- and concert-visitor research as well as non-visitor research.
Students gain insight into research questions, methods and results of canonical and current research on art from a psychological and sociological perspective.
Special emphasis is placed on attracting visitors, with a further focus on the use of digital media.

Several guests from the field will be invited to talk about their current projects in the area of visitor acquisition and visitor retention.
