Inhalte:
Global Governance refers to the rise of cooperative relations in international politics – documented, for instance, by the increasing number of international organizations, norms and regulations. Such relations often include not only states but also non-state actors, such as NGOs or multinational coporations.
This seminar analyzes global governance institutions, actors and policy processes as well as challenges of current and future global governance systems. Moreover, the seminar addresses questions of authority and legitimacy of new governance forms as well as their contestation.To this aim, the course draws on a variety of empirical cases that will be studied in group works. Students will develop their own research project in the course of the seminar. 

Lernziele:
Students wil be able to
1.    Identify, describe, and explain key theories and concepts in Global Governance research.
2.    Develop their own research questions and choose and implement appropriate methods to answer them.
3.    Understand, analyze, and evaluate complex problems of Global Governance.
4.    Apply the conceptual and theoretical approaches to empirical cases in different fields of Global Governance.

Weighting of the examination results: Midterm 30 %; Endterm 70 %

Midterm Short Exposé (2 pages) should include:

1. Research question, research aim
2. Methods, data sources, hypotheses
3. State of research, theories
4. Outline
5. Schedule (milestones)

Endterm (70%): Research Paper (max. 4000 words) should include:
1. Introduction + Relevance
2. Research question, theory or theoretical concepts
3. Research design
4. Well structured analysis
5. Conclusion and limitations
