Contents

Performance and performance measurement are studied at different levels: individual and team performance; performance of organizations, such as businesses; performance of larger systems, such as economies or political systems. Theories from various disciplines are leveraged to this end (particularly psychology, business, and economics), and multiple dimensions of performance are examined (e.g., financial performance and sustainability). At each level, methods to measure performance and performance metrics are introduced, their upsides and downsides are discussed, and the necessity as well as challenges in performance measurement are considered.

The course combines lectures with in-class and take-home exercises, student presentations, and individual meetings. Students are strongly encouraged to participate actively and engage in discussions in class.
