Course content:
The seminar provides a policy-oriented introduction to the study of decision-making, administrative practices, and political interaction of the EU’s core institutions as well as the EU member states. It will do so based on a conceptual debate on policy making as well as an analysis of case studies from internal as well as external aspect of European affairs.
Educational objective:
The learning objectives of the seminar are (1) to provide insights into policy-making and administrative practices in the European Union; (2) to enable the students to analyse political dynamics, decision-making and policy-implementation in different EU policy fields.
Further information about the exams:
The seminar focuses on reading, presentation and discussion in class. Participants are expected to attend every session and prepare all mandatory readings in advance and to participate actively in class.
Grades will be based on the following deliverables:
1) Presentation on a topic of the seminar; 25% of the grade
2) Written seminar paper (3500 words excl. title, table of contents, literature); 75 % of the grade; outline of the seminar paper has to be presented at the end of the course
