Course content:
This seminar in international and intercultural management is designed to familiarize students with key factors affecting international organizations in the global arena. The framework of the seminar consists of various components of international and intercultural management, such as strategic alignment and change in a global context, cohesion in intercultural top management teams, leadership styles, stakeholder management, global leadership and transnational management.
In this course culture will not be restricted to regional differences. We consider differences ("Four layers of diversity, Gardenswartz & Rowe 1995) including conflicts of different organisational cultures will become more prominent when trying to manage or even change them.
Educational objective:
Students will acquire skills in observing international environments and processes of internationalization; analysing diversity blockages for leadership and organisational development and innovation; establishing and managing an international organization; communicating in a transcultural environment; observing the historical context; understanding theoretical concepts; self-awareness of your way of leading in groups, different contexts and your value system; managing and working in a transcultural setting; and developing sensitivity to local needs and conditions.
