Course content:
The disciplinary border separating economy, politics, management and culture in former times becomes blurred, multidisciplinarity wins increasingly in meaning. Information and communication technologies as a driver of these changes become more and more relevant in the management oriented political and administrative sciences. To understand the new challenges resulting from this development, students are getting an introduction to public sector informatics and business informatics in this module.

By the use of selected concepts, models and tools the different functionalities, operation areas and chances of modern information and communication technologies are demonstrated for administrative and business praxis. Thus a basic understanding is produced for organisational process and the use of computers and IT-systems to the fulfilment of public tasks and economic interests.

The course is the introduction to business informatics. It focuses on the scientific approach of business informatics and the application-oriented use of modern information and communication technologies in economy and administration. The huge number of applicable tools and system solutions opens up a large field of possible applications. Outstanding attempts will be retreated and discussed in group.

Educational objective:
The students receive an insight into essential concepts, models and tools of business informatics, get known to the application spectrum in companies, and public sector and should be enabled to look ahead to new technologies foreseeable not yet.
