Course content:
"In the context of global value creation (GVC), governance includes the overarching principles, structures and decision making processes that guide the ‘‘checks and balances’’ in network functioning, so as to make sure that the interests of the entire network (and broader societal/environmental interests where relevant) are served above and beyond localized interests of participating firms and individual decision-makers within these firms.” (Kano et al. 2020, p.599).
Against the background of this definition, the "governance of value networks" will be approached from different perspectives in the course in order to provide an overview of what influences principles, structures and decision-making processes.
In particular, the following main topics will be addressed:
- Innovation in networks
- Culture in diversified networks
- Organisational learning in networks
Educational objective:
After the course, participants will have an overview of principles, structures and decision-making processes that influence the governance of value networks.
Through teamwork activities and presentations, the course will also give participants the opportunity to put the concepts they have learned into practice.
