Course content:
This course examines entrepreneurial thinking in a highly relevant context: family firms. Family firms are the most prevalent type of firms in Germany and with approximately 3 million firms they are the backbone of the German economy. Family firms behave in a very specific manner due to for example their long-term orientation, their strong regional ties, and their value orientation. Interdisciplinary research as well as an entrepreneurship education approach building on the specifics of family firms are especially focused in this part. Relevant theories as well as recent empirical analysis are introduced, discussed, and applied.

Educational objective:
In this semester we will focus on recent developments around artificial intelligence (AI) and its applicability in different entrepreneurial contexts (for example by contrasting family firms and start-up companies). The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial opportunities and potential downsides of applying AI to different use cases. Relevant theories as well as recent empirical analysis are introduced, discussed, and applied.
