Course content:
The course deals with data analysis and the statistical software "R" will be introduced.
The topics of statistics will be repeated and additional concepts will be introduced and applied with R:
- data management (read and manage data, variable management)
- univariate, bivariate and multivariate statistics
- graphical presentation and analysis of results
- regression analysis and diagnostics (OLS)
- Interaction effects and non-linear relations
- logistic regression (Maximum Likelihood)
- marginal effects
- sampling weights
Educational objective:
The goal of the course is to deepen the knowledge of statistics and to apply it. The participants will learn how to use the statistical software "R" in order to be able to conduct their own research by applying statistical procedures.
Further information about the exams:
The midterm consists of obligatory exercises with R during the semester and § 19 Abs. 2 ASPO applies to the midterm. Passing the midterm is precondition for admission to the exam. The endterm is a research paper with an empirical analysis with R.
