Course content:
Self-regulation of emotions is a skill that allows one to recognize a strong emotion and choose a way to respond that has the least negative consequences. Lacking emotional self-regulation can lead to intensive negative emotions, socially unacceptable behavior choices, and even self-destructive behavior. But people can improve their emotion regulation skills through effort, practice, and repetition. Research has discovered various effective strategies of regulation regarding negative emotions such as anger, sadness, disgust, or envy.
