Course content:
The seminar provides participants with valuable insights and practical guidance on conducting expert interviews as a qualitative research method in the social sciences. It aims to provide participants with the necessary skills to effectively design, execute, and analyze expert interviews for generating rich and nuanced qualitative data.
Expert interviews offer a unique opportunity to gather in-depth knowledge and perspectives from individuals who possess specialized expertise in a particular field or topic. This seminar will explore the theoretical foundations and methodological considerations underlying expert interviews, helping participants understand when and why this method is appropriate for their research projects.

Educational objective:
Throughout the seminar, participants will engage in interactive discussions, practical exercises, and case studies to develop their understanding of expert interviews as a qualitative research method. They will also have the opportunity to critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of this approach and explore potential applications in their own research domains.

Further information about the exams:
1. In-class presentation, handout, and preparation of group discussion (1-2 students): 1 or 2 students select one paper from the list of presentations (see below and separate link per e-mail) and prepare a 15 minutes powerpoint presentation to be held in class. The aim is to present to your fellow students the content of the paper and what practical implications you see for qualitative research projects and interviews. Provide examples. Please be prepared to guide the subsequent discussion on the text and answer questions (50%)
2. Home assignment (interview and documentation of Maxqda project) (50%)
