Inhalte: In what sort of production environments do artworks emerge and how have these environments changed throughout cultural history? Which constellations promote reorientations and changes in the art field, and what role do technical developments and the development of new working techniques play in this? The seminar will highlight historical turning points in the history of the arts by examining different sources, such as texts, finished works that communicate such developments, and by analysing historical contexts of art. Visiting artist studios will aslo be part of the seminar.
Lernziele: The students will gain an overview of the history of artistic production based on exemplary materials and documents. Furthermore, students will gain a basic knowledge of the social history of art and about the historical development of artistic working methods, techniques and knowledge forms. They will also get to know epoch-making works of art and will be introduced into the analysis of art works.
