Inhalte:

• Fundamentals of modern microeconomic theory: consumer theory, producer theory, different forms of market competition, game theory   
  
• Mathematical analysis of basic microeconomic concepts   
  
• Application of these concepts to current economico-political issues   
  
• Philosophical perspectives on microeconomic theory (ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of science)   
  
• Critical reflection about standard microeconomic assumptions and approaches
  

Lernziele:
The students will gain a fundamental understanding of modern microeconomic theory - and some of its philosophical extensions. In particular, the goals are 

• to familiarize the students with basic microeconomic concepts   
  
• to enable the students to handle these concepts in a mathematical way   
  
• to let the students gain insight into how to criticize economic policies in an analytic way   
  
• to make the students aware of the philosophical assumptions underlying microeconomic theory   
  
• to enable the students to ciritically assess standard assumptions and approaches in microeconomic theory from a philosophical perspective
  

Weitere Informationen zu den Prüfungsleistungen:
The course will be assessed by a 60 minute exam. The exam will feature both questions concerning the mathematical analysis of microeconomic concepts, and questions concerning how to evaluate microeconomics from a philosophical perspective.
