Inhalte:
Zeppelin Universität focuses on the intersection of economics, culture, and politics and Max Weber has long been regarded as being one of the most influential scholars in these areas because of his Die protestantische Ethik und der Geist des Kapitalismus and Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. This course is devoted to the study of The Protestant Ethic and three shorter writings. The purpose of this course is two-fold: 1) to introduce the student to some of Weber’s most important works and 2) to foster the ability to think more critically and to write more clearly in English.

Weitere Informationen zu den Prüfungsleistungen:
--Class attendance and discussion. Since the class meets only eight times, attendance is expected. Students will be given handouts containing a number of questions covering the next period’s readings.

-- One 600 word paper—either on “Politics as Vocation” or on “Science as Vocation”

-- One 1800 word paper on The Protestant Ethic      

Papers are to be the student’s scholarly examination and critical appraisal of the reading and will be graded according to content (insights and correctness) and style (clarity and cohesion).

These are not research papers; no other sources should be used.
