Inhalte:
The seminar extends the perspective from the political systems of nation states to a globalized world. The core question will be: what kind of system is developing at the global level. Does it make sense to assume a world society or are we dealing with a differentiated and diversified global system or global contexts? How can a differentiated and diversified global system be integrated and preserve global collective goods? A crucial part of the seminar is the discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of modern democracy as seen against the background of the challenges of lateral world systems and an emerging knowledge society. This leads to the more general political/economic/sociological question of the possibilities and limitations of global governance.
