Inhalte:
PPP is designed as an introductory course to Political Science. Our approach will be broad: We will begin with an overview of the various subdisciplines of political science and take a dip in Political Theory. We will spend some time discussing key concepts of modern politics such as “power,” “state,” “sovereignty,” and “nation”. We will take a closer look at key themes of Comparative Politics, such as regime types, regime change, democratization and democratic failure, and political economy. In the last section of the course, we will turn to the study of International Relations. Here, we will take a survey of the major theoretical paradigms of IR, discuss the politics of globalization, and investigate how political scienctists deal with the puzzle of European integration.

Lernziele:
The course seeks to familiarize students with the rationale, research questions, methods, and limits of Political Science. In particular, it is meant to be an offer for students pursuing a non-consecutive MA who want to catch up on Political Science.
