Inhalte: This course (100083 Kulturgeschichte) will focus on the history and philosophy behind the Idea of Europe. We will also consider some of the major challenges facing Europe today.
Lernziele: The course aims to educate students in the history and philosophical background of the Idea of Europe. They will be trained in critical thinking and encouraged to practice the basic tools of academic learning (reading, writing, presenting, discussing and articulating clear arguments). Students will be encouraged to work in groups and practice arriving at collaborative results.
Weitere Informationen zu den Prüfungsleistungen: Students will work individually or in groups to present the topic and reading of each week at the start of the class. This also includes preparing questions to foster a constructive discussion in the class. The working groups will be set up in the first two sessions and the seminar plan developed accordingly. Presentations, accompanied by written material, will constitute the examination/Prüfungsleistung. Students will be expected to volunteer (in rotation) to write the minutes of each session and to present these at the start of the following session.
