Inhalte: This lecture will give an introduction to selected aspects of modern economic theory, especially to behavioral economics which studies the actual behavior of agents. This approach allows to relax the traditional assumptions that economic decisions are made by fully rational, selfish, utility maximizing individuals. Thus, it explicitly takes into account human emotions (e.g., perception of fairness, risk aversion) and attempt to model systematic deviations from standard economic theory with respect to human behavior. We will discuss models of human behavior and related studies that test these theories in an empirical way. Behavioral economics has proved useful in understanding many economic issues including financial crises, donations to charity, price setting, labor supply, bargaining, etc. Content: | Introduction | Methods in Behavioral Economics | Rationality | Risk and Uncertainty | Time and Social Preferences | Incentives and Motivation
Lernziele: Knowledge about recent contributions to economic theory and empirical findings from the perspective of behavioral economics.
