Inhalte: We will explore psychological processes of decisions in general and more specifically in the legal domain. After an introduction to important theories and models and empirical findings on human decisions and their weaknesses, we will start to discuss decisions by algorithms. Since nowadays, governments are increasingly interested in the use of algorithms in decision making, we will delve deeper into the literature on costs and benefits of using AI systems especially in the legal system.
Lernziele: Students will understand the basics of human decision making and automatic decisions by algorithms. In addition, they learn to reflect on the fairness of algorithmic decisions and how to test the quality of an algorithm. They will also understand what Big Data are.
