Inhalte:
As a most recent example of the creative destruction, the artificial intelligence (AI) is generally expected to affect all areas of economy including especially productivity, growth, inequality, market power, innovation, and employment. This lecture will review the recent economic research on the impact of AI. It will explore the selected economic applications of machine learning, the economic impact of robotics and automation, and the potential economic consequences of an artificial general intelligence. Finally, we will discuss interactions between AI and current covid-19 pandemics.
The lecture will cover especially these broad areas:
| AI technology and productivity development;
| the relationships between AI, growth, jobs, and inequality;
| regulatory responses to changes brought on by AI;
| the effects of AI on the way economic research is conducted.
Lernziele:
The students will
| gain economic insights into the complex issue of AI applications;
| gain a general overview about application strategies of AI & Machine Learning;
| discuss economic implications in different areas where AI is or may be used;
| apply their knowledge in the discussion of current economic policy issues including the covid-19 pandemics;
| understand the interdisciplinary aspects of AI.
