Inhalte: Markets are institutions of society while corporations are organizations of the economy. Starting in the early 20th century, companies became increasingly important actors in society. Business Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility as well as Sustainable Development Solutions are good examples referring to collective actors of society. This leads to a revival of the question of what the nature of the firm is in both economic practice and economic theory. This course focuses on the debate about the nature of the firm also from a perspective of Relational Economics Theory. We read articles and discuss critical aspects of the primary literature on the “Theory of the Firm”. In this context, opportunities and limitations of the relationship between “Business & Society” should be observed. Every participant has to present a text and lead a discussion based on the presentation. Please read the required literature in order to be well prepared for each class.
