Inhalte:
This course will be a joint-course with Radboud University Nijmegen, Nijmegen school of management. Classes will be held online.

In this course, we will deal with different concepts and theories related to gender and other inequality dimensions.
We will discuss
(1) how institutions and conflicts affect (different) women and (different) men in different ways and to what extent institutions and conflicts reinforce or challenge gender(ed) relationships and hierarchies
(2) to what extent institutions and conflicts provide or impede opportunities for feminist movements.

Empirically, we will study different actors involved in conflict (resolution such as peacekeeping forces, state militaries, rebel or terrorist groups, international organizations.

 

Lernziele:

• Understand and critically assess basic concepts and literature in the issue area of gender, institutions and conflicts
  
• Understand and evaluate practical problems in this issue area and present them based on literature reviews, verbal as well as textual analysis
  
• Understand theoretical concepts and theories and analytically apply them to empirical examples
