Inhalte:
This course focuses on the methodological foundations and the practical application of qualitative research methods whereby a particular emphasis is placed on case study research methods, interviews and qualitative data analysis.

Lernziele:
This course focuses on the methodological foundations and the practical application of qualitative research methods whereby a particular emphasis is placed on case study research methods, interviews and qualitative data analysis.

Preparation: Please read the articles listed below. For each workshop day, I have also chosen an exemplary study of qualitative research that we will discuss in class. When reading the exemplary article of the first day, please focus on research design and data collection methods. The article of the second day has been chosen to focus on its data analysis.

Workshop participants who have already gathered qualitative data may bring data excerpts to the class (e.g. 3 interviews), which we can code and analyze in groups in the morning session of the second workshop day.

Examination:


  • Participants will be asked to submit a short seminar paper (no longer than 5 pages) three weeks after the course. More information on the topic of the seminar paper will be provided during the course.
  • 100% class participation
